In the Shadow of a Subterranean River

Crypt Gallery Group Show

My role in organising the Crypt show was to be one in a team of two dealing with the overall logistics. This involved co-ordinating the different groups, arranging meetings, creating a time table of mile stones and liaising directly with the Crypt Gallery. The initial meetings prior to the summer break set everyone up well. The groups were formed with little conflict that I was aware of and each group self-regulated themselves. Each group communicated amongst themselves and then fed back to us keeping us updated on the progress. We also ran a Facebook group which was useful for reminders and general questions and information. The marketing team were particularly efficient and quickly came up with a list of 5 exhibition names which we voted on by everyone, making it a democratic decision that everyone seemed happy with.

Once back at University in October the pressure was on to get the details finalised in terms of transport and private view. This was easier having everyone in the same place again and we were able to co-ordinate vans and go back and forth with Anne at the Crypt Gallery with any questions either of us had. I collected the large ancient key the week prior to the exhibition and the curating team had two and a half days to set up the show. This show was an enjoyable experience to help organise and I was impressed with how smoothly the different groups communicated with us and each other. This was reflected in the coherent exhibition and the positivity feedback that we received from tutors and visitors.
